The Vertical, Horizontal, and The Heart

Thinking about the cross, worship is vertical, horizontal and there is also the heart of worship where those cross in the middle. The vertical part of worship is out of obedience to do things that please God. The horizontal part of worship is to encourage one another. But if that is just all, then God is just the audience (vertically) or God is not involved at all (horizontally). There is more though; where the vertical and the horizontal cross each other (the heart of worship), we find that not only is God audience, and we are encouraging one another, but that also God meets us in worship in the things we do in worship.
